The Word Of The Day: Entertaiment

Something affording pleasure, diversion, or amusement: A movie is an entertainment. A restaurant that serves excellent food is an entertainment. The theater has an elaborate entertainment program.
The prefix inter means “inside,” and the suffix tenere, from the Latin root ten, meaning to hold, suggests that to entertain is to keep something inside or hold it for someone.
Entertainment often hits on themes that the brain was evolved to react deeply to in order to understand the world around us. This can include backstabbing, murders and other themes that are a part of the social world.
