Definition: Entertainment is understood objectively, involves communication between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience for its existence and occurs in a passive form. It also requires the activity of a consumer and can be considered an economic good. According to Oliver and Bartsch (2010), entertainment can be defined as an activity which is perceived positively by a consumer.
Something affording pleasure or diversion; amusement: a crossword puzzle is entertainment for many people. Also used to refer to hospitable provision for guests, such as a banquet or ball. The idea of entertainment has evolved to include activities for any scale: a personal choice of entertainment from an enormous array of pre-recorded products; or a performance intended for thousands.
